Regional Team

Who We Are

The Regional Team includes Heather Reiff, Oregon Program Coordinator, and Toni Mizerek, California Program Coordinator.  We have diverse backgrounds in ocean policy and marine conservation, and fisheries and natural resource management.

What We Do

Our Regional Team works in conjunction with the Policy, Communications and Science Teams, operating with similar objectives, but implementing them at a regional scale.  The focus of our work is to help bring regional science and scientists into policy and management discussions. Please visit our individual Regional Program Pages for more information:

Regional Ocean Science Briefings

These presentations provide policymakers and resource managers a venue to hear directly from prominent marine scientists about the application of their work to current decision making processes.  By creating a venue for lively discussion, these briefings bring relevant scientific research into the forefront of policy and management agendas. We host these briefings in Salem, Oregon and Sacramento, California.

Policy Updates

These electronic updates provide scientists a brief overview of relevant agency activities and legislation at both the State and Federal scales.  They are intended to brief a scientific audience on the variety of opportunities to incorporate their science into decision making and policy processes. Currently these are offered in California.

Past regional work has been carried out in New England.
