Architects for Sustainable Offshore Aquaculture: Meeting needs while Maintaining Ecosystem Services

Miami, FL (November 2005)

Overview
COMPASS hosted a small workshop of twenty leading scientific experts in ecology and aquaculture science for two days in an attempt to better integrate scientific information from both areas of research. The workshop aimed to establish what information is available to determine the impacts of offshore aquaculture on ecosystem functioning, and to identify unresolved ecological effects of scaling up offshore production. Additionally, the group outlined research priorities and resource needs, along with identifying future collaborations and opportunities to address these considerations.
