Oregon Marine Science Luncheon Series

Oregon's State Land Board-co-chaired by the Governor, Secretary of State, and Treasurer-has teamed with COMPASS to host a series of marine science talks at the capitol in Salem. Aimed at informing legislators and agency staff, COMPASS brings ocean scientists to the capitol to share cutting edge marine research relevant to natural resource policy issues in the state's coastal waters.

Wave Energy Development in Oregon: Science, Technology, and Considerations for Maintaining Healthy Ocean Ecosystems.

Featuring Justin Klure, Interim Director of the Oregon Wave Energy Trust; and Dr. George Boehlert, Director of Hatfield Marine Science Center and Professor of Marine Fishes at Oregon State University. Jessica Hamilton, the Governor's Natural Resource Policy Advisor on ocean issues, introduced the speakers and moderated the question and answer period.

Featuring Dr. Dawn Wright, Professor in the Department of Geosciences at Oregon State University; and Dr. Vicki McConnell, Director of the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries. The speakers were introduced by Mike Carrier, Governor Kulongoski's Director of Natural Resource Policy and the discussion following the talks was moderated by Jessica Hamilton, the Governor's Natural Resource Policy Advisor on ocean issues.
